Experience Counts

I joined ATF as an Industry Operations Investigator (IOI) in 2001; retiring in 2013 after 24 years of federal and military service combined.

Since starting a private practice in 2013, I've assisted over 100 companies in securing their FFL.  Importers, Manufacturers, Dealers and Exporters.

I look forward to working with you as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Operate An FFL From My Home?

That depends.  All FFLs must comply with state law and local ordinances. Any business conducted under the FFL must not violate state and local requirements.  ATF will verify if your proposed business will meet these requirements.

What does ATF look for during the qualification interview?

In general, the Investigator needs to speak with a Responsible Person in order to verify items on the application, examine the premises, and ensure they understand certain responsibilities.  We provide applicants with strategies to make this process go smoothly.

What constitutes a Responsible Person (RP)?

The difinition of RP is stated on the ATF F 7, but in essence any corporate officer, LLC member, sole proprietor or other associate of a licensee who has the power to directly or indirectly control the firearms operations of the company must be included as a RP.  However, that is not always the case. Each situation is unique and must be examined on its own merits.
